Patrick Stewart to Host Peabody Awards

Stage and screen star Patrick Stewart will host the Peabody Awards ceremony, to take place at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City on Monday, May 21.

The Peabody recognizes excellence in electronic media – inclusive of radio, television, interactive and new media. Winners will be announced via Webcast on April 4 from the University of Georgia.

Stewart received a Tony nomination for playing the title role in the 2008 production of Macbeth, and won a 2009 Olivier Award for his performance as Claudius and The Ghost in the RSC’s Hamlet. He most recently appeared on Broadway in A Life in the Theatre. His many film and television credits include playing Professor Xavier in the X-Men series of films and Captain Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation.
