Oskar Eustis to Direct Lawrence Wright's The Human Scale at 3LD
The Human Scale is an unsparing and graphic exploration of the ongoing crisis in Gaza, which follows up on Wright's essay "Captives" published in the November 9, 2009 issue of The New Yorker. Eustis previously directed a workshop of the show at Joe's Pub in March of this year. The first performance on October 2 is being presented as part of this year's New Yorker Festival.
The production will feature lighting design by Deb Sullivan, video design by Aaron Harrow, sound design by Matt Hubbs, and scenic consultation by David Korins.
Wright won the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction, along with several other honors, for his book, The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11. In 2006, he premiered his one-man play, My Trip to Al-Qaeda, at The New Yorker Festival, which went on to perform a sold-out six-week run at the Culture Project.
