Oscar Nominee Susan Tyrrell Has Died

Oscar nominee and Broadway veteran Susan Tyrrell has died at age 67 after a long illness, according to published reports.


Tyrrell began her career as a teenager in regional theater and later appeared on Broadway in A Cry of Players, Cactus Flower, King Lear, Camino Real, and The Time of Your Life between 1968 and 1970.


In 1972, she received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her work in John Huston’s Fat City. Her many other film and television credits include I Never Promised You A Rose Garden, Ladies in Waiting, Forbidden Zone, Cry-Baby, and Powder.
