Colin Firth, Ellen Burstyn, Patricia Clarkson, Amber Tamblyn, Orlando Bloom, Andrew McCarthy, Tom Wopat, and Victoria Clark will star in John Doyle’s film of Horton Foote’s screenplay Main Street. The work centers on the residents of a small American city facing change.

Doyle received the Tony Award for Sweeney Todd, and a Tony nomination for Company. He most recently helmed Road Show at the Public Theater.

Foote, who died earlier this year, won the Pulitzer Prize for The Young Man from Atlanta; his many other plays include The Trip to Bountiful, The Traveling Lady, and The Carpetbagger’s Children. He was most recently represented on Broadway by Dividing the Estate, which will be restaged at Hartford Stage later this season. In addition, his Orphans’ Home Cycle is set to play Hartford Stage and New York’s Signature Theatre Company during the 2009-2010 season.
