Preliminary casting has been announced for two upcoming productions at the Public Theater.

Academy Award winner Olympia Dukakis will star in the New York premiere of Craig Lucas’ The Singing Forest, to be directed by Mark Wing Davey, to run April 7-May 17, with an opening on April 27. The play is the story of three generations of a family whose lives are intertwined despite the secrets that have torn them apart.

Nicholas Martin will direct Amir Arison, David Aaron Baker, Kristine Nielsen and John Pankow in Christopher Durang’s dark comedy, Why Torture Is Wrong, and the People who Love Them, to run March 24-April 26, with an opening on April 6. This satire about America’s growing homeland ‘insecurity’ tells the story of a young woman who wonders if her new husband is a terrorist.

Additional casting for both productions will be announced at a later date.
