Old Globe to Present NYMF Musical Street Lights

The Old Globe Theatre will present the new musical Street Lights, created by composer and lyricist Joe Drymala, at both Lincoln High School’s Center for the Arts (February 20 and 21) and its flagship Old Globe Theatre in San Diego’s Balboa Park (February 25-28). Ryan J. Davis will direct.

The show uses modern hip hop, R&B, and pop to tell the story of a group of inner city teenagers who fight to save their high school music program from being shut down. The musical is currently being presented as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival.

As previously reported, a CD Concept Recording of the show is now available for purchase on Amazon, the musical’s website, and at the ATA (Chernuchin) Theatre where the show will perform, October 13-18.

The NYMF production is also directed by Davis, with the cast featuring Carla Duren, Chad Carstarphen, Miguel Jarquin-Moreland, Kevin Curtis, Gayle Turner, Jim Stanek, Virginia Cavaliere, Joy Lynn Matthews, Roberto Araujo, Claudeen Benoit, Geri Brown, Jay Garcia, Ejyp Johnson, and Melissa Joyner. No casting for the Old Globe engagement has been announced.
