Off-Broadway's Vineyard Theatre to Present World Premieres of John Kander-Greg Pierce Musical The Landing and Nicky Silver's Too Much Sun
The works will open as part of the 2013-2014 season.
The Landing, the first collaboration between Tony Award winner Kander (Cabaret) and Pierce (Slowgirl), is directed by Tony winner Walter Bobbie (Venus in Fur) and will open this fall. Consisting of three one-act musicals linked thematically and performed by a four-member ensemble, the work follows a group of people who must confront what it means to get what they think they want. A lab production at the Vineyard last spring starred Tony Award winner David Hyde Pierce (Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike), Julia Murney (Falling), Paul Anthony Stewart (The People in the Picture), and Jake Bennett Siegfried (The Sound of Music).
Silver's Too Much Sun will be presented in the spring of 2014, directed by Mark Brokaw, who helmed Silver's The Lyons at the Vineyard and recently on Broadway. Silver's previous productions at the Vineyard include Pterodactyls, Raised in Captivity, and The Maiden's Prayer.
The Vineyard's current season will continue with the previously announced world premiere of Jenny Schwartz's Somewhere Fun, directed by Anne Kauffman and starring Kathleen Chalfant and Kate Mulgrew, beginning May 15.
