Noted Baseball Artist Mark Ulriksen Designs Artwork for Broadway's Yankees-Themed Bronx Bombers
The frequent contributor to ''The New Yorker'' knows his way around a hand-painted illustration.
San Francisco-based artist Mark Ulriksen has been tapped to create the artwork for the upcoming Broadway production of Eric Simonson's Bronx Bombers, a new drama about the New York Yankees coming to the Circle In The Square Theatre.
Ulriksen hand-painted the key art, modeled after an image seen in production. The play follows player Yogi Berra's quest to unite the baseball franchise after a dugout argument between player Reggie Jackson and manager Billy Martin. The artist knows a thing or two about baseball artwork; his creations have been seen in The New Yorker magazine since 1995.
