Nicole Powell and Jonathan Rayson to Star in NYC Revival of Next to Normal

The Pulitzer Prize-winning rock musical Next to Normal will be produced by Musically Human Theatre, October 25-November 11 at Studio 501 @ CAP 21. David Norwood will direct the production.

Next to Normal, which features music by Tom Kitt and a book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey, deals with Diana, a woman whose bouts of manic-depression throw her family into turmoil. The Broadway production won three 2009 Tony Awards and the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

Nicole Powell will lead the company as Diana, with Jonathan Rayson as Dan, Eric Michael Krop as Gabe, Elena Ricardo as Natalie, Sam Heldt as Henry, and Craig Foster as Doctor Fine/Madden.

The creative team includes Joseph Croghan (scenic design), Michael O’Connor (lighting design), Jacob Subotnick (sound Design) and Michael Starobin & Tom Kitt (orchestrations). Musical director Jeremy Robin Lyons will conduct the six-piece band.
