Niall Buggy, Denis Conway, et al. Set for Druid’s Penelope at St. Ann’s Warehouse

Casting has been announced for the American premiere of Enda Walsh’s Penelope, which will be presented by the Irish company Druid at St. Ann’s Warehouse, October 23-November 14. Mikel Murfi will direct.

The play is based on the final chapter of Homer’s The Odyssey. In the production, four ridiculous men meet daily at the bottom of a drained swimming pool and take turns attempting to woo Ulysses’ wife. On this particular day, they all sense that Ulysses will return, find them pursuing her, and kill them. The production recently won the Fringe First Award at the 2010 Edinburgh Fringe.

The cast will include Niall Buggy as Fitz, Denis Conway as Dunne, Tadhg Murphy as Burns, Karl Shiels as Quinn, and Olga Wehrly as Penelope.

The creative team will include set and costume designer Sabine Dargent, lighting designer Paul Keogan, and sound designer Gregory Clarke.
