Next to Normal‘s Tom Kitt to Provide Original Music for Playwrights Horizons’ Retributionists

2009 Tony Award winner Tom Kitt (Next to Normal) will provide original music for Playwrights Horizons’ production of Daniel Goldfarb’s The Retributionists, to be directed by Leigh Silverman, August 21-September 27, with an opening set for September 15.

As previously announced, Adam Driver, Margarita Levieva, Cristin Milioti, Adam Rothenberg, Hamilton Clancy, Rebecca Henderson, and Lusia Strus will star in the piece, which concerns a group of young Jewish freedom fighters who attempt to avenge society’s wrongs. The creative team will include Derek McLane (set), Susan Hilferty (costumes), Peter Kaczorowski (lighting), and Jill BC DuBoff (sound).

Also recently announced, Tracee Chimo and Heidi Schreck will join Reed Birney, Peter Friedman, and Deirdre O’Connell in Annie Baker’s Circle Mirror Transformation, to be directed by Sam Gold, September 24-November 1, with an opening set for October 13. This new comedy concerns four lost New Englanders enrolled in a community drama class.
