Anyone lamenting the dearth of good headdresses out there should hit The Supper Club on Monday, June 10, to enjoy a veritable bouquet of them at “Tulips & Pansies: The Headdress Affair.” Now in its second year, the benefit event features a parade of elaborate headwear made entirely from living plants and fresh cut flowers. These creations are by celebrated fashion designers and some of the city’s finest florists; Liz Claiborne, Alfred Fiandaca, DKNY Jeans, David Beahm Designs, and Florascape are a few of the names contributing.

The headdresses, which will be displayed couresty of local celebs, models, and drag performers, are to be judged by a celebrity panel including comedian Kate Clinton, Who’s The Boss‘s Danny Pintauro, and gossip-monger Michael Musto. Entertainment will be provided by drag opera sensation Shequida, Broadway star Sheryl Lee Ralph (currently of Thoroughly Modern Millie), and actor Anthony Rapp, who will sing songs from his new CD and then be joined by other original cast members of Rent in a special reunion appearance. NY1 reporter Paul Lombardi and Coco LaChine, former Empress of the Imperial Court of New York, will host.

Tickets are $75 for open bar and the show, $250 for ringside seats, dinner, open bar, and a private cocktail party with the designers and celebrities. Reservations can be made by calling 212-337-5750. Doors open at 7pm, dinner begins at 8:00, and the show starts 9:30. The Supper Club is located at 240 West 47th Street.

“Tulips & Pansies” is presented by Village Care of New York, and proceeds from the benefit will go toward their health care programs to help people living with HIV and AIDS.
