New Theater Festival to Hit Midtown

Midtown Manhattan will experience a heat wave of theater during summer 2000. The Trilogy Theatre and OOBR (the Off-Off-Broadway Review) will sponsor the First Annual Midtown International Theatre Festival, running August 10 through September 3.

The event’s purpose is to cultivate alternative theatre and afford showcase opportunities for avant-garde, diverse and classical works that otherwise would not normally have a chance of being seen by the theatergoing public. Both spaces at the Trilogy Theatre will host the event, with other venues added if necessary. Each production will perform seven times during the first two weeks of the festival, with the last week reserved for the festival’s most popular shows.

The Trilogy Theatre is an Off-Off Broadway flagship venue. It was founded five years ago by playwright/actor/producer Norman Siopis as a home for new and exciting theater. The Trilogy theatre is located at 341 West 44th Street between 8th & 9th Avenues. For more information or show applications contact www.oobr.com.
