A new production of Disney’s musical Tarzan will come to the stage in 2009, playing Atlanta’s Fox Theatre, American Musical of Theatre of San Jose, the North Carolina Theatre, and Dallas Summer Musicals. The show is being co-produced by Atlanta’s Theater of the Stars and the three other theaters. No casting has been announced.

The production will be directed and choreographed by two-time Tony Award nominee Lynne Taylor-Corbett, with sets by Kenneth Foy, lighting by Ken Billington, and aerial design by Paul Rubin. Additional members of the creative team will be announced shortly.

The show, based on the book by Edgar Rice Burroughs and the Disney animated film, features a score by Grammy Award winner Phil Collins and a book by David Henry Hwang.
The show’s Broadway production opened on May 10, 2006 and closed on July 8, 2007.
A production is currently playing in the Netherlands, with a second international production scheduled to premiere in Hamburg, Germany in October.
