Neil Patrick Harris’ Beastly Film to Now Be Released on March 18

Beastly, a modern retelling of Beauty and the Beast co-starring Broadway veteran Neil Patrick Harris, will now be released by CBS Films on March 18, 2011, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film, which is directed by Daniel Barnz, was originally set to hit theaters in July. It also stars Alex Pettyfer, Vanessa Hudgens, Peter Krause, and Mary-Kate Olsen.

Harris’ stage credits include Assassins, Rent, and All My Sons, and he will be directing the Hollywood Bowl’s concert staging of Rent this summer. He is currently filming The Smurfs. He is well-known for his portrayal of Barney Stimson on CBS’ How I Met Your Mother, and he has hosted the Tony Awards and the Emmy Awards.
