Neil LaBute, Aimee Mann, Elaine Stritch, Lili Taylor Set for Rubin Museum Happy Talk Series

Performance artist Laurie Anderson, playwright Neil LaBute, singer Aimee Mann, and Broadway legend Elaine Stritch are among the participants in the Rubin Museum of Art‘s upcoming Happy Talk series of discussions.
Stritch will join Duke University brain scientist Murali Doraiswamy, whose work explores the influences of genetics and lifestyle on cognitive and emotional health, to revisit the many experiences of her life on September 23 at 6pm.
Anderson will join Daniel Gilbert, the author of Stumbling on Happiness, for her seventh on-stage conversation at the Rubin on September 29.
On October 28, LaBute, whose plays include The Shape of Things, Fat Pig, and reasons to be pretty, will talk happiness, sadness, and compassion with Grammy winning singer-songwriter Mann, and also discuss his newest play, titled reasons to be happy.
Additionally, a host of stage and screen favorites will introduce film screenings at the museum. Tony Award-winning costume designer William Ivey Long will present the 1963 Italian film The Leopard on September 7; Lili Taylor will introduce the Frank Capra classic It’s A Wonderful Life on October 5; and composer-lyricist Ricky Ian Gordon will present Ingmar Bergman’s Cries and Whispers.
