The play's title refers to a character type from the world of 1930s burlesque, referring to "a stereotypically camp homosexual man, most times played by a straight performer." Lane will be playing one such individual, Chauncey Miles – a headlining nance who actually happens to BE homosexual himself.
The production's creative team will include John Lee Beatty (sets), Ann Roth (costumes), Japhy Weideman (lighting), and Leon Rothenberg (sound).
Lane won his Tonys for A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and The Producers. His many other Broadway credits include The Addams Family, The Frogs, Butley, and Present Laughter. He's also won two Emmy Awards and can currently be seen on TV on The Good Wife.
