Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812 Is Streaking Into Uptown
The off-Broadway hit will have a 14-week limited run in New York's theater district.
NYC's uptown theater district will welcome a new hit when Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812, which played in its custom venue, Kazino, in the meatpacking district all summer, blazes onto West 54th Street. Kazino will relocate to its new Times Square-adjacent location for a 14-week limited run beginning September 24.
Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812 is a unique electro-pop opera created by Dave Malloy and directed by Rachel Chavkin. The plot draws from a portion of Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace and follows Natasha Rostova, who arrives in Moscow to await the return of her fiancé from the front lines. When she falls under the spell of the city's most charming rogue, it is up to the disillusioned Pierre to pick up the pieces of her reputation.
The production's current cast includes David Abeles, Brittain Ashford, Gelsey Bell, Catherine Brookman, Nick Choksi, Ken Clark, Ashkon Davaran, Blake DeLong, Amber Gray, Luke Holloway, Dave Malloy, Grace McLean, Azudi Onyejekwe, Paul Pinto, Phillipa Soo, Lucas Steele, Shaina Taub, Mariand Torres, and Lauren Zakrin. The show played its final performance at Kazino's Meatpacking location on September 2.
Ghostlight Records will release the original cast recording of Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812, the company has announced. A release date for the album, which was recorded on August 26, has not yet been announced.
