Gods, goddesses, and fabulous creatures of legend took over Roseland last night as Broadway Bares XVII: Myth-Behavior was presented for two performances, raising big bucks for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Among those on hand were the Amazons, seen here with a prize catch…
…and the Centaurs, who did some horsing around with this beautiful youth.
Legally Blonde‘s Leslie Kritzer (right) provided a hilarious through-line for the show, which included guest appearances by such stars as Bebe Neuwirth and David Hyde Pierce, both alums of TV’s Frasier.
One of the evening’s most gorgeously choreographed numbers was this one, simply titled “Heroes.”
Other roof-raisiers offered fanciful takes on the tales of Pan…
…and Medusa, who at least got to have some fun before going down that stoney end.
Here’s a handsome young sailor boy caught by the power of Poseidon…
…here’s the hot-hot-hot Daphne Rubin-Vega, singing in praise of Icarus…
…and here’s Narcissus, one celebrity who obviously does not have a problem with the paparazzi.
As the show drew to a close, Harvey Fierstein turned up in drag (what a shocker)…
…and the audience was granted a vision of Hades that, to some people, looked a lot more like Heaven.
Among the show’s many other participants, caught backstage, were the lovely Nancy Anderson…
…Ashley Brown, the star of Mary Poppins…
…Capathia Jenkins, who was a mighty Aprhrodite in Broadway Bares…
