WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE TELEVISION CHARACTER OF ALL TIME?
(Greg Brady on The Brady Bunch)
"My all time favorite is Lassie. There are several reasons for this. First, it was a tremendous acting job because she was played by a male and hardly anybody knew it. Getting roles in show business can be a very daunting affair; not only did Lassie survive the whole casting process, but she even had the whole show named after her.
"Also there was the language barrier: Although she (see, even I do it; I mean he) never mastered the English language, we could always understand what she meant by just one bark. We, as viewers could easily distinguish between 'Oh, my goodness, there is terrible trouble down the road' and 'I just really love you, Timmy.'
"Lassie had very good morals, too--always faithful, never complained, never showed up drunk on the set. And, let's face it, that dog was a whole lot smarter than the rest of the family. She was so smart that if the script called for a particularly dangerous trick, she made the 'stunt Lassie' do it instead. For me, it was very reassuring to know that, no matter what dire circumstances would develop, Lassie would somehow save the day. Everyone should have a Lassie!"
(Host of Celebrity Homes on E! Entertainment Television, and co-hosting LIVE with Regis on October 12 and 13)
"I love Ginger on Gilligan's Island! I absolutely wanted to emulate her when I was a kid. I mean, let's think about this: She was out there on an island, she looked gorgeous, her hair was never messed up, she wore hundreds of slinky gowns, and people still liked her.
"Of course, growing up, I was so much more like Mary Ann. I was the All-American girl, and everyone's buddy. But that didn't stop me from developing a serious Ginger-complex."
