Michael Potts, Elliot Villar, et al. Set for Music-Theater Adaptation of Walt Whitman’s Song of Myself

Michael Potts, Jorge Rubio, Michael Rogers, Elliot Villar, and Sarah Heltzel will perform in Compagnia de’ Colombari’s More Or Less I Am, an adaptation of Walt Whitman’s Song of Myself, conceived and directed by Karin Coonrod and featuring music by Colin and Eric Jacobson, co-founders of Brooklyn Rider, with Kyle Sanna and Alex Sopp. The piece will be presented in multiple locations, May 5-14.

Reflecting Whitman’s celebration of American diversity as encapsulated in New York City, an international mix of actors, musicians, and children will speak and sing Whitman’s words. Members of the audience will also be invited to play a role.

The piece will debut at Bargemusic on the Brooklyn waterfront on Wednesday, May 5 at 8pm, and will also play Ft. Green Park (May 6, 7pm), Winter Garden World Financial Center (May 7, 8pm), Walt Whitman Birthplace Huntington (May 8, 7pm), The Wadleigh School (May 10, 11am), The Old Stone House (May 11, 7pm), Marcus Garvey Park (May 12, 7pm), Grant’s Tomb (May 13, 7pm), and Joe’s Pub (May 14, 7pm).
