Michael Cerveris, Ellen McLaughlin, Kristine Nielsen, et al. Set for Upcoming Red Bull Events

Steve Boyer, Liam Craig, Quincy Dunn-Baker, Peter Francis James, Jeffrey Hayenga, Brent Langdon, Alfredo Narciso, Kristine Nielsen, Christina Pumariega, and Gayle Rankin will be among the cast members of Red Bull’s staged reading of ‘Tis Pity She’s a Whore, to be presented at 416 West 42nd Street, in the theaters at Playwrights Horizons, on Monday May 17, at 7:30pm.

Craig Baldwin will direct John Ford’s Jacobean play, about a Romeo and Juliet-like love story between a brother and sister. The reading will be followed by a post-play Bull Session with Professor Jean Howard of Columbia University.

Upcoming readings will include David Rabe’s Gilgamesh, the Prince (May 24), directed by Leigh Silverman and featuring Michael Cerveris and Michael Stuhlbarg, and William Congreve’s Love for Love (June 14), featuring Richard Easton and Marc Vietor, with direction by Michael Sexton.

As previously reported, F. Murray Abraham and Michael Stuhlbarg will be among the honorees at Running of the Bulls, a benefit for Red Bull Theater on June 7. Michael Cerveris will host, with special guests including Robert Cuccioli, Roberta Maxwell, Patrick Page, Laila Robins, and Michael Urie.

In addition, Red Bull will present a new play workshop of Septimus and Clarissa, by Ellen McLaughlin, based on Virginia Woolf’s Mrs. Dalloway on June 25 and 26. Rachel Dickstein will direct a cast that will include McLaughlin, along with Jacqueline Antaramian, Craig Baldwin, Laura Butler, LeeAnne Hutchison, Paula McGonagle, Guy Paul, Michael Rudko, Tommy Schrider, and Miriam Silverman. The work will feature an original score by Gina Leishman.
