MCC Announces 2003-2004 Season

MCC (Manhattan Class Company) has announced its slate of productions for 2003-2004.

The season will begin with the world premiere of Eric Coble’s Bright Ideas, a satire about parents who’ll do anything to get their children into an exclusive school. Bright Ideas is set to open in November; the director and cast will soon be announced.

Next up will be the New York premiere of Bryony Lavery’s Frozen, directed by Doug Hughes, MCC’s resident director. The critically acclaimed play, originally produced at the National Theater in London, follows three people whose lives are connected by a child’s disappearance years earlier. Frozen is scheduled to open in March 2004.

MCC will cap its season with the New York premiere of The Distance from Here by Neil LaBute, author of such controversial works as The Mercy Seat, The Shape of Things, and bash. Also first produced in London, the play follows six people in suburbia and demonstrates that the lines between adults and children are not always clearly defined. The play will open in late April 2004.
