Max von Essen Will Sing the American Songbook in Concert

The ”Anastasia” star will perform his new concert at Birdland Jazz Club and the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center.

Tony nominee Max von Essen, currently starring as Gleb in Broadway's Anastasia, will perform two concerts in New York later this month alongside his musical director and pianist, Billy Stritch. He will appear at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on July 22 at 8pm, followed by a return to Birdland Jazz Club on Monday, July 23, at 7:30pm.

Von Essen's new show celebrates the best of Broadway and the American Songbook, all while highlighting milestones in his theatrical career. He and Stritch will be joined for both concerts by Steve Doyle on bass, Daniel Glass on drums, and Mairi Dorman-Phaneuf on cello.

Von Essen joined the cast of Anastasia in December 2017, following his 2015 Tony-nominated performance as Henri Baurel in An American in Paris. His previous Broadway credits include Agustin Magaldi in the 2012 revival of Evita, Enjolras in the first revival of Les Misérables, and Alfred in Dance of the Vampires. He also appeared in the closing company of the original Les Misérables, and the first revival of Jesus Christ Superstar.
