Matthew Polenzani to Perform All Performances of Metropolitan Opera’s La Traviata

Matthew Polenzani will now sing the role of Alfredo in all performances of the Metropolitan Opera’s new production of La Traviata, December 31-January 29. The production, to be directed by Willy Decker and conducted by Gianandrea Noseda, will also star Marina Poplavskaya as Violetta and Andrzej Dobber as Germont. For the January 19, 22, 26 and 29 performances, Polenzani replaces Francesco Meli, who has withdrawn due to illness.


Polenzani won the Metropolitan Opera’s 2008 Beverly Sills Artist Award and the 2004 Richard Tucker Award, His many credits include Don Giovanni, Die Zauberflöte. Lucia di Lammermoor, Roméo et Juliette and Die Entführung aus dem Serail.
