Matilda's Lesli Margherita Joins Reading of I Had a Ball
The musical comedy gets new life at the New York Performing Arts Library.
Broadway's Lesli Margherita (Matilda The Musical) has joined the cast of UnsungMucialsCo's reading of the 1963 musical comedy I Had a Ball, with a book by Jerome Chodorov and music and lyrics by Stan Freeman and Jack Lawrence. The performance will be held at the Bruno Walter Auditorium at the New York Library for the Performing Arts on July 24. Ben West directs.
Featuring a newly arranged score by musical director Fran Minarik, I Had a Ball follows the delightfully eccentric denizens of Coney Island and the feisty fortune-teller who singlehandedly sets off a series of raucous romantic entanglements. Sparks fly, love blossoms, and hilarious high jinks ensue.
Previously announced cast members include Danny Rutigliano (Born Yesterday), Steve Luker (42nd Street), Liz Pearce (Billy Elliot), Natalie Venetia Belcon (Matilda), and Emmy Award winner Bruce Vilanch (Hairspray). Additional casting will be announced shortly.
