The new musical Once — currently wrapping up its run at New York Theatre Workshop on January 15, prior to transferring to Broadway’s Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre beginning February 28 — will receive an original cast album from Masterworks Broadway, a label of Sony Masterworks. The album will be recorded on Tuesday, January 17, in anticipation of a March 2012 release.

With music and lyrics by Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová, and a book by Enda Walsh, Once is adapted from the 2007 Academy Award-winning film of the same name. The musical, which is set on the streets of Dublin, focuses on an Irish musician, known just as “Guy,” and a Czech immigrant, known just as “Girl.”

The company features Steve Kazee (Guy) and Cristin Milioti (Girl), along with David Abeles, Claire Candela, Will Connolly, Elizabeth Davis, David Patrick Kelly, Anne L. Nathan, Lucas Papaelias, Andy Taylor, Erikka Walsh, Paul Whitty, and J. Michael Zygo. John Tiffany has directed the production, which has movement by Steven Hoggett and musical direction by Martin Lowe.
