Two-time Tony Award nominee Mary Testa will star in a staged reading of Howling Hilda at The Robert Moss Theater on Thursday, June 16 at 2pm. Valentina Fratti will direct.

Written by Anne Berlin and Andrew Bleckner, the solo musical is the story of the Brooklyn Dodger’s greatest fan, Hilda Chester. Set on the eve of the Brooklyn Dodgers’ historic last season in New York, Hilda is being interviewed during the course of one game. Thwarted in her dream to play baseball, she spent a lifetime cheering. Hilda became an institution at Ebbets Field, notorious for her clanging cowbells, frying pan and iron ladle. Today she is in the Baseball Hall of Fame and there is an award given out in her name every year.

Testa received Tony Award nominations for her performances in 42nd Street and On the Town. Her other Broadway credits include Xanadu, Chicago, Marie Christine, The Rink, and Barnum. Off-Broadway she has appeared in such shows as Regrets Only, See What I Wanna See, First Lady Suite, and String of Pearls.

The reading, presented as part of the Planet Connections Theatre Festivity, is free and open to the public.
