Martin Sheen will join the previously announcedSpider-Man, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Sheen will play the role of Uncle Ben, who famously (and tragically) teaches the hero the motto that guides his career.

Sheen is best known for his Emmy Award-winning work on NBC’s The West Wing. On Broadway he received a Tony Award nomination for his work in the original The Subject Was Roses. His many other stage credits include The Crucible, Death of a Salesman, Julius Caesar, and, most recently, a revival of The Subject Was Roses. Among his many film credits are Apocalypse Now, Wall Street, That Championship Season, The American President, and Lost & Found.
