Mark Brokaw will direct a production of the Richard Rodgers-Oscar Hammerstein II musical Cinderella, which aims to arrive on Broadway in the 2012-2013 season.

As previously reported, Douglas Carter Beane will be writing a new book for the production, which will have a workshop production in April. The show is being produced by Robyn Goodman, along with Aged in Wood Productions.

In this re-invention of the classic tale, many original story elements remain intact -- including pumpkin, glass slippers, and Fairy Godmother - but in a new twist, it is now Cinderella's turn to rescue the Prince. The production will feature musical numbers from the original score -- including "In My Own Little Corner," "Impossible/It's Possible," "Ten Minutes Ago" and "Do I Love You Because You're Beautiful?" -- as well as several songs from the Rodgers & Hammerstein trunk.

Brokaw's prior directing credits on Broadway include After Miss Julie, Cry-Baby, The Constant Wife, and Reckless. Among his other credits are two collaborations with Beane: the original productions of As Bees in Honey Drown and Music From a Sparking Planet.
