Marin Ireland will star in Soho Rep’s production of the late British playwright Sarah Kane’s Blasted, to begin performances October 2.

Kane’s first and most controversial play made its world premiere in London in 1995, when it initially outraged audiences and critics with its depiction of rape, torture, and violence. The production, to be directed by Soho Rep’s artistic director Sarah Benson, was previously announced for the company’s spring season.

Ireland will be starring in Beebo Brinker Chronicles, which will begin performances at 37 Arts Theatre next month. Her many Off-Broadway credits include Bad Jazz, Manuscript, Sabina, Far Away, and Savvanah Bay.

In other Soho Rep news, Alexandra Conley, who has served as executive director of the company since 1999, is leaving that post. A new executive director is expected to be in place by this summer.
