Manhattan Theatre Club Cancels February 9 Preview of Bill Cain’s Equivocation

Manhattan Theatre Club has canceled the February 9 performance of Bill Cain’s Equivocation. Previews for the new play will now begin on February 10. The delay will allow the company to have an additional day of technical rehearsal. Directed by Garry Hynes, the production will officially open on March 2 at New York City Center – Stage I.

Equivocation is set in 1605 England and begins when King James’ right hand man commissions William Shakespeare to write a new play about the Gunpowder Plot, a recent failed attempt to blow up Parliament and the Monarchy. The company features Remy Auberjonois, Michael Countryman, David Furr, John Pankow, Charlotte Parry, and David Pittu.

The production team includes Francis O’Connor (scenic & costume design), David Weiner (lighting design), David Van Tieghem & Brandon Wolcott (sound design), and David Brimmer (fight direction).
