Tony Award winner Mandy Patinkin will play Benedict in Classic Stage Company’s “Open Rehearsal” Series of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing on December 7 and 14 and January 18 and 25. Additional cast and creative team will be announced shortly.

The company recently begin its 42nd season with The Age of Iron, to run through December 3. Adapted and directed by Brian Kulick, the company’s artistic director, the show is an epic retelling of the Trojan War, drawn from Shakespeare’s Troilus & Cressida and Thomas Heywood’s Iron Age.

Next up, Tony Award winner Walter Bobbie will directed David Ives’ new play Venus in Fur, January 13-February 21. Based on one of literature’s most infamous erotic novels, the play goes behind the scenes to an audition for a play in which the lines between fantasy and reality, seduction and power, and love and hate blur.

The mainstage season will conclude with Oscar winner Dianne Wiest in Alexander Ostrovsky’s The Forest, adapted by Kathleen Tolan, to run April 14-May 23. The play is about two vagabond actors who crash a nearby estate posing as gentry.
