Classic Stage Company has announced the four productions planned for its upcoming 2013-2014 season which, as previously announced, will kick off with a production of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet starring acclaimed actress Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene). It has now been announced that Finn Wittrock (Death of a Salesman) will also star in that production and Tea Alagić (Jackie) will direct.

The season will continue with Tony Award winner Mandy Patinkin (The Wild Party, Homeland) and acclaimed actor/performance artist Taylor Mac in The Last Two People on Earth: An Apocalyptic Vaudeville. Tony Award winner Susan Stroman (The Scottsboro Boys) will direct and choreograph this fully-staged workshop of a show that chronicles the rise and fall of humankind through music that runs the gamut from Sondheim to R.E.M.

Director Brian Kulick and composer Duncan Sheik (collaborators on CSC’s The Caucasian Chalk Circle) will return to the theater in the new year with a fresh production of Brecht’s A Man’s Man. The season will conclude with David Ives’ The Heir Apparent, a new comic romp based on a play by Jean-François Regnard. John Rando (All In The Timing) will direct.

The 2013-2014 season will also reunite CSC with the Graduate Acting Program of the Columbia University School of the Arts for The Young Company and bring back the popular Open Rehearsal Series. In April, CSC will present First Look Festival: Caryl Churchill, a one-night staged-reading series exploring the visionary playwright’s Cloud Nine, Fen, and Mad Forest.
