After a run of 14 years, the Broadway production of Mamma Mia! will play its final show on September 5, 2015 at the Broadhurst Theatre. At the time of its closure, it will have run 14 previews and 5,765 performances.

Featuring the music of the pop band ABBA and a book by Catherine Johnson, Mamma Mia! is directed by Phyllida Lloyd and produced by Judy Craymer. The musical tells the story of a young woman who attempts to discover the identity of her father as her wedding approaches. It officially opened October 18, 2001 at the Winter Garden Theatre and moved to the Broadhurst Theatre on November 2, 2013.

The original cast was led by Louise Pitre, Judy Kaye, Karen Mason, Tina Maddigan, Joe Machota, Ken Marks, Dean Nolen, and David W. Keeley. The current company is led by Judy McLane, Elena Ricardo, Mary Callanan, Alison Ewing, Victor Wallace, Paul DeBoy, John Hemphill, and Jon Jorgenson. A starry film version, with a cast featuring Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, and Christine Baranski, was released in 2008 and grossed $600 million worldwide.

Mamma Mia! is currently the eighth-longest-running show in Broadway history, and only one of five current musicals to have run for more than ten years on Broadway.
