Making for the Exit

Susan Sarandon, Geoffrey Rush, Andrea Martin, and William Sadler discuss their roles in the Broadway revival of Eugene Ionesco’s Exit the King

The work of the absurdist playwright Eugene Ionesco may not be what one considers an “easy sell,” but Broadway ticket buyers are already lining up to see his rarely-revived comedy Exit the King, at the Barrymore Theatre, in large part because of the even rarer appearances of Oscar winners Geoffrey Rush and Susan Sarandon as the slow-to-die King Berenger and his stoic wife, Queen Marguerite. TheaterMania recently spoke with the two stars, along with Tony Award winner Andrea Martin and Broadway veteran William Sadler — who play pivotal supporting roles — about this exciting project.
