MAC + ASCAP Spells Showcase: August 6 Benefit Will Feature Stephen Schwartz, Ricky Ian Gordon, More

The MAC/ASCAP Songwriters’ Showcase, co-presented by the Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs and the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers, is set to take place on Tuesday, August 6 at 6pm. The event, which will feature songs and performances by over a dozen songwriters, will be hosted by Jamie deRoy, who initiated these showcases back in 1987 and is the current MAC President Emeritus.

Composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz, whose works include Godspell, Pippin, and Children of Eden, will be a special guest at the showcase. The other participating songwriters are Francesca Blumenthal; David Buskin, Rob Carlson and George Wurzbach; Brian Feinstein; Zina Goldrich; Ricky Ian Gordon; Diana Hansen Young; Marcy Heisler; Chris Miller; Barry Moritz; Ben Schaechter; Rick Swanson; Kirby Tepper; Nathan Tysen; and Kathy King Wouk.

The showcase will be held at the Lighthouse at 111 East 59th Street (between Park and Lexington). Admission is $10 for the general public and $5 for MAC and ASCAP members. Seating is first come, first served, and no reservations are necessary.
