Lyon and Tartaglia Will Recreate Their Avenue Q Roles in Las Vegas

Original Broadway cast members Rick Lyon and John Tartaglia will head the Las Vegas company of Avenue Q. The show is set to begin performances at the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel on August 27, with the official opening scheduled for September 8. This production inaugurates the Wynn’s new 1,200-seat theater, which was built specifically for it.

In addition to Lyon and Tartaglia, who was nominated for a 2004 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical, the show’s Vegas company will include Angela Ai, David Benoit, Steven Booth, Minglie Chen, Tonya Dixon, Rita Dolphin, Natalie Gray, Phyre Hawkins, Nicholas Kohn, Michelle Lane, Kevin Noonchester, Brynn O’Malley, Cole Porter, Jonathan Root, Kelli Sawyer, Sharon Wheatley, and Haneefah Wood.

The Broadway production of Avenue Q is about to begin its third year on Broadway. It opened at the Golden Theater on July 31, 2003 after a successful Off-Broadway run at the Vineyard Theater. The show won Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Book, and Best Score. The current Broadway cast features Barrett Foa, Stephanie D’Abruzzo, Ann Harada, Natalie Venetia Belcon, Christian Anderson, and Jordan Gelber.
