Lynn Redgrave’s Nightingale to Bow at Hartford Stage in May

Lynn Redgrave’s solo show Nightingale will make its east coast premiere at Hartford Stage, May 24-June 24, replacing the now-postponed stage adaptation of the film Terms of Endearment, which was to star Linda Gray. That show was scheduled to premiere in March at Houston’s Alley Theatre, which has yet to name a replacement on its schedule.

Nightingale, which is loosely based on the life of Redgrave’s maternal grandmother, Beatrice Kempson, had its American premiere last year at Los Angeles’ Mark Taper Forum, where it earned excellent reviews.

Redgrave earned Tony Award nominations for Shakespeare For My Father (which she also wrote), Mrs. Warren’s Profession, and The Constant Wife. She received both Drama Desk and Obie awards for her work in the Off-Broadway show Talking Heads. Her films include Georgy Girl (for which she received an Academy Award nomination), Gods and Monsters, and Kinsey.

A member of one of England’s most renowned acting clans, Redgrave is the daughter of Sir Michael Redgrave and Rachel Kempson, the sister of Vanessa and Corin Redgrave, and the aunt of Natasha and Joely Richardson.
