Liz McCartney will reprise her performance as Carlotta and Sean MacLaughlin will assume the role of Raoul in the Broadway production of The Phantom of the Opera, playing at the Majestic Theatre, on December 6, one week after the production celebrates its 9,500th performance. They will succeed Patricia Phillips and Ryan Silverman, respectively, who will play their final performances on December 4.

McCartney first played the role of Carlotta over ten years ago and played it from June 1999 to April 2001. She had initially joined the production in March 1999 as a member of the Ensemble. Among her other Broadway credits are Taboo, South Pacific, Mamma Mia! and Thoroughly Modern Millie.

MacLaughlin played Raoul in the final cast of the long-running national tour of the musical, having played the role since February 2009. On Broadway, he has been seen in Bombay Dreams, The Woman in White, and Lestat.

They join a company that stars Hugh Panaro (The Phantom) and Sara Jean Ford (Christine), along with George Lee Andrews (Monsieur André), David Cryer (Monsieur Firmin), Cristin J. Hubbard (Madame Giry), Evan Harrington (Piangi) and Heather McFadden (Meg Giry). At certain performances, Marni Raab plays Christine.

Based on the classic novel Le Fantôme de L'Opéra by Gaston Leroux, the show features music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Charles Hart (with additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe), and book by Richard Stilgoe and Andrew Lloyd Webber. It has production design by the late Maria Björnson, lighting by Andrew Bridge, and sound by Martin Levan. Direction is by Harold Prince and musical staging and choreography is by Gillian Lynne. Orchestrations are by David Cullen and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
