Lillias White to Star in The Negro Ensemble Company, Inc.'s A Woman on Love Valentine's Day Concert

The concert will open the company’s 47th season.

Lillias White will perform The Negro Ensemble Company, Inc.'s A Woman on Love concert on Valentine's Day at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.

The Negro Ensemble Company, Inc. will open its 47th season with two performances of a Valentine's Day concert entitled A Woman On Love, starring Tony Award-winning singer/actress Lillias White. Both performances will take place February 14 at the Langston Hughes Auditorium at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. There will be a VIP Reception immediately following the second concert.

Lillias White won Tony and Drama Desk Awards for her role portraying Sonja in The Life on Broadway. She has also appeared on Broadway in Dreamgirls, Once on This Island, Carrie, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Chicago, and more. Her film and TV credits include a regular role on Sesame Street (for which she won an Emmy Award), Pieces of April, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

"I am pleased and proud to contribute my time and energy to benefit The Negro Ensemble Company," said White in a statement. "The NEC is an integral part of our community and has produced performing artist who have become world renowned."

The Negro Ensemble Company, Inc. provides African-American, African and Caribbean professional artists with an opportunity to learn, work, and grow in the performing arts, and presents theater performances by and about black people to culturally diverse audiences.
