Light, Plunkett, Schreiber, Sunjata, Tunie, et al. Set for New Globe Theater Benefit

Tony Award winner Liev Schreiber will host New Globe Theater’s benefit performance of Shakespeare in the Brave New World (from the Colonies to Bart Simpson), which will perform at NYU’s Skirball Center, Monday, October 27 at 8pm.

The program follows the story of Shakespeare in America, beginning with the first performances in the colonies in 1730; to the Astor Place Riots in 1849; to Shakespeare’s influence on Abraham Lincoln and Mark Twain; to a 1910 silent film of Twelfth Night with actors performing the voice over on stage; to the American musical; and Bart Simpson doing Hamlet.

The evening will feature appearances and performances by David Alan Basche, Jonathan Cake, Peter Francis James, James Lesure, Judith Light, Manu Narayan, Will & Anthony Nunziata, Maryann Plunkett, Alysia Reiner, Juliet Rylance, Jay O. Sanders, Daniel Sunjata, Tamara Tunie, and James Waterston. All performers are subject to availability, and additional performers will be announced at a later date. Michael Rice will provide musical direction.
