Kritzer, Margulies, Miranda, Wilson Win Equity Awards

Leslie Kritzer and Lin-Manuel Miranda have been selected to receive the annual Clarence Derwent Award presented by the Actors’ Equity Foundation to honor the most promising female and male performers on the New York metropolitan scene, while David Margulies and Mary Louise WIlson have won Equity’s Richard Seff Awards, which honor a female and male character age, 50 years or older, for the best performance in a supporting role in a Broadway or Off-Broadway production. The prizes will be handed out on Tuesday, June 12 at Equity’s Regional Board Meeting.

Kritzer was recognized for her performance as Serena, a sorority girl, in Legally Blonde. Miranda is the co-author and co-star of the hit Off-Broadway musical In The Heights. Margulies won for his work in All That I Will Ever Be and The Accomplices. Wilson won for her work as Edith Bouvier Beale in Grey Gardens, which began in February 2006 at Playwrights Horizons before transferring to Broadway’s Walter Kerr Theatre last October.

The judges’ panel for both awards includes Irene Backalenick, Back Stage; Adam Feldman, Time Out NY; Harry Haun, Playbill; Michael Kuchwara, Associated Press; David Rosenberg, Back Stage, and Michael Sommers, The Star Ledger.
