Kristen Johnston, Jordan Lage, Kate Levy, Cass Morgan, et al. Set for Mint’s The Naked Genius Benefit

Full casting has been announced for the presentation of Gypsy Rose Lee’s The Naked Genius on Monday, June 14 at Caroline’s on Broadway. The evening will serve as a benefit for the Mint Theatre Company.

The cast will feature Kristen Johnston, Jill Abramovitz, Mary Ellen Ashley, Dale Carmen, Matthieu Cornillon, Margaret Daly, Linda Gabler, Jennifer Harmon, Jordan Lage, Kate Levy, Dani Marcus, Chris Mixon, Cass Morgan, Saxon Palmer, Kraig Swartz, Sheila Stasack, Peter Van Wagner, and Virginia Wing.

The farce tells the story of a burlesque performer named Gypsy Rose Lee, who’s just published a memoir entitled I’ll Bare All, and her attempts to reconcile her desire for respectability with her burlesque roots. The reading will use the original script for the piece, rather than the Broadway version, which was doctored by its original director George S. Kaufman.

The benefit will also feature a pre-show dinner with Erik Preminger, Lee’s son, and Anne Kaufman, daughter of the original show’s director and ghostwriter, as well as a post-performance desert reception with the cast.
