Katori Hall, Kenneth Lonergan, et al. Set as Signature "Residency Five" Playwrights

Signature Theatre Company has announced that in Annie Baker, Will Eno, Katori Hall, Kenneth Lonergan and Regina Taylor will be the inaugural playwrights for the company’s “Residency Five” initiative, which is part of the expanded programming that will be presented at the new Signature Center at 480 West 42nd Street, which will open in February.

“Residency Five” guarantees each playwright three world-premiere productions of new plays over the course of a five-year residency; specific productions will be announced at a later time. Each playwright will receive a significant cash award, full health benefits, a stipend to attend theater, and access to Signature’s resources and staff.

As previously announced, Signature will launch its new home with Athol Fugard as its inaugural “Residency One” playwright, and the company will also expand its “Legacy Program,” by presenting work of past playwrights-in-residence.
