Kathleen Chalfant, Wallace Shawn Set for No Guantanamos at Home or Abroad

Kathleen Chalfant and Wallace Shawn will be among the Broadway stars participating in No Guantanamos at Home or Abroad, a weekly vigil to be held directly outside the Metropolitan Correctional Center (150 Park Row in New York City), beginning Monday, October 19 and continuing every Monday thereafter, from 6pm to 7pm.

The vigil — held on behalf of Syed Fahad Hashmi, a 29-year old Muslim American who has been held for nearly two and a half years in solitary confinement — will include short dramatic readings, live music, and a weekly update from Hashmi’s lawyers and family members. Each vigil, organized in association with Theaters Against War (THAW), will feature a Broadway star.
