Kathleen Chalfant to Kick Off This Year's Shakespeare's Birthday Sonnet Slam

The eighth annual Shakespeare's Birthday Sonnet Slam has been announced for Friday, April 27, 1-4pm at the Naumberg Bandshell in Central Park.
The free event features 154 readers of all ages performing all 154 of Shakespeare's sonnets in numerical order. Tony Award nominee and Drama Desk winner Kathleen Chalfant (the original Broadway production of Angels in America, Wit) will be this year's kickoff reader, performing Sonnet #1.
Willful Pictures artistic director Melinda Hall is the creator of the Sonnet Slam. The event will be held rain or shine.
