Kate Baldwin, Barbara Cook, Raul Esparza, Norm Lewis, Anika Noni Rose, et al. Set for American Songbook‘s 2011 Season

Lincoln Center has announced programming for its 2011 American Songbook season, which celebrates the diversity of American popular song. Events will take place in the Allen Room at Frederick P. Rose Hall at Jazz at Lincoln Center.

The season will kick off with Tony Award winner Barbara Cook (January 12). Additional highlights will include singer-songwriter Lance Horne with special guests Alan Cumming and Cheyenne Jackson (January 14); Grammy winner Mary Chapin Carpenter (January 15); Fascinatin’ Rhythm: Rob Fisher Celebrates the Gershwins, starring Victoria Clark and Norm Lewis (January 26), Grammy Award nominee Joan Osborne (February 4); Tony Award winner Anika Noni Rose (February 5); opera singer Stephanie Blythe performing the songs of Kate Smith (February 16); four-time Tony Award nominee Raul Esparza (February 18); and Tony Award nominee Kate Baldwin (February 19).

The American Songbook season will also feature The Low Anthem (January 13), Shara Worden (January 27), John Doe (January 28), Carolina Chocolate Drops (February 2), Bebel Gilberto (February 3), Alexi Murdoch (February 17), and Herb Alpert and Lani Hall (February 20).
