Josh Hamilton Replaces Christian Camargo in CSC’s Cherry Orchard

Josh Hamilton will play the role of Trofimov in Classic Stage Company’s production of Anton Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard, to be presented November 16-December 23, with an opening on December 4. Andrei Belgrader will direct. Hamilton replaces Christian Camargo, who had to withdraw from the project due to a film role.

Chekhov’s tragicomic masterpiece will be presented in a translation by John Christopher Jones. The play centers on Madame Ranevskaya and her family, who are blind to the winds of change that are about to overtake them and their cherished cherry orchard.

As previously reported, the cast will also feature John Turturro (Lopakhin), Dianne Wiest (Ranevskaya), Ken Cheeseman (Pischick), Daniel Davis (Gaev), Alvin Epstein (Fiers), Slate Holmgren (Yasha), Roberta Maxwell (Charlotta), Juliet Rylance (Varya), Michael Urie (Yepikhodov), Elisabeth Waterston (Dunyasha) and Katherine Waterston (Anya).

The production will feature scenic design by Santo Loquasto, costume design by Marco Piemontese, lighting design by James F. Ingalls, hair design by Paul Huntley and original music by Christian Frederickson and Ryan Rumery.

Hamilton’s Broadway credits include The Coast of Utopia, Proof, and Brighton Beach Memoirs. He received Drama Desk and Lucille Lortel nominations for his performance Off-Broadway in Hurlyburly, and his previous work with CSC includes playing Andre in the company’s recent staging of Three Sisters.
