Horizon Theatre Rep has announced casting for Robert Lowell’s Benito Cereno, to run June 16 – July 10 at The Flea Theatre. Alfred Preisser will direct the production, which will have fight choreography by Rick Sordelet.

Based on Herman Melville’s novella of the same name, the play, set in 1770, depicts the mysterious events that occur when an American merchant vessel comes upon a battered Spanish ship, that has a nearly all-black crew and a white captain, Benito Cereno.

The company will feature Annemarie Agbodji, David Brown, Jr., Rafael De Mussa, Yacine Djoumbaye, Evan Johnson, Jordan Lage, Kenita R. Miller, Tiffany Warren, and Chandler Wild, along with Tracy Jack, who will also serve as dance choreographer.

The creative team will include Akiko Nishijima Rotch (scenic design), Cathy Small (costume design), Joyce Liao (lighting design), and Deniz Akyurek (sound design).
